Mexican Tuna

Tuna in Mexico is a pear. I gathered a few of these at La Superior yesterday. Tossed them in the refrigerator peeled and scooped out the interior and ate. Refreshing, slightly sweet while subtle like a melon. After a little research I read that the red ones are sweeter and that the yellow tunas are at the perfect ripe. Thinking this could have the makings for a great summer day cocktail. Perfect pairing for the juicer too. They are full of seeds and the Mexicans swallow them whole since they are quite hard and might crack a tooth. They say it aids in their digestion?

They are really pretty and interesting to look at. I'm thinking too to fill a footed hurricane with these and lemons. Beautiful table scape
