Lava Flow Cake & Cupcakes




My recent trip to Hawaii inspired this cake. If it were an adult party the rum would be in this cake. Ooo that would be yummy!

2 boxes of Duncan Heines Extra Moist white cake mix
Butter
Coconut Flavoring
Shredded Coconut 1 bag
2 jars of Strawberry topping
Basic Butter Cream cheese frosting. Double batch

Make cupcakes and cake as directed. In addition add 1/2 cup of straw topping with 1/2 tsp coconut extract to the mix. For cupcakes add only 1/2 the batter to cupcake tin then add a tbl strawberry topping for the center of cupcake (lava) then top with remaining batter. Bake, cool and frost adding shredded coconut and red sprinkles.

For cake bake as directed in two 9 inch cake pans. Cool, slice off extra top so cake is even then poke holes in the bottom layer cake. For the layer in the middle use 1.5 cups frosting and then 1 cup of strawberry topping and 1/4 cup melted butter top with 2nd cake. Frost and deco with shredded coconut and red sprinkles.

Very moist and most delicious cake.
